Zuma slammed for failing to answer MPs questions fully

President Jacob Zuma has been accused of failing to give MPs straight answers in the National Assembly.

Zuma’s Q & A session was marked by fraught exchanges and chants of “answer the question”

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) disrupted parliamentary proceedings and left the national assembly after a heated exchange with deputy Speaker Lechesa Tsenoli.

Eyewitness News reporter Gaye Davis was in Parliament.

Speaker Baleka Mbete and Lechesa Tsenoli came under fire this afternoon from MPs not just the EFF for not being more robust in getting the president to answer MPs questions fully.

The big question was from Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maiimane .

Maimane asked whether or not Zuma has abused his office to influence the award of state contracts to family members.

We had a categoric denial from the President and then a follow-up question from Maimane sighting this affidavit that the Sunday Times reported on a while ago...referring to a meeting where Zuma directed family members to the late and former minister Collins Chabane and that triggered an uproar.

Zuma was also taken to task over a controversial decision by government, to grant Zimbabwe’s first lady Grace Mugabe diplomatic immunity.

The President said he can’t explain why because he is not a lawyer.

Mugabe was granted diplomatic immunity and allowed to leave the country after allegedly assaulting a young woman in her son’s hotel room earlier this month.
