Hawks: specialist prosecutors assigned to Prasa probe

Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi says investigations into alleged corruption at the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) are ongoing.

We have a complainant by Prasa who has given us information. A case docket has been opened.

The bone of contention is that we are given 30 days to deal with the case that talks to billion of rands. It's not fair.

We've got specialist prosecutors that have been assigned to this case.

The investigations were are doing remain confidential. There's no way we will be coerced into talking about people's names.

Mulaudzi says it is unclear how long the investigation will take and adds that the Hawks will make a public announcement in due course.

He says he cannot comment on the progress of certain cases in an effort to uphold the integrity of investigative processes.
