Saying more women arrested for drunk driving is not sexist - Tshwane mayor

On Saturday, Tshwane mayor, Solly Msimanga reportedly said he is concerned that far too many women are being arrested for drunken driving. The mayor partook in a roadblock in the city.

Solly Msimanga, City of Tshwane Mayor tells Midday Report, stand-in host, Clement Manyathela that he is disappointed that his remarked have been labeled sexist.

What I was raising was an observation and nothing else.

Of all the people we tested...an alarming number women were arrested and charged with drunk driving.

Msimanga goes on to say it is crucial that drivers restrict themselves from drinking and then driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Msimanga says he unfortunately has no control over being misinterpreted by media reports over his remarks but insists he was in no way sexist.
