Tsogo Sun hotels in CT 'ban' visitors from bathing in efforts to save water

A Western Cape hotel group has reduced its water consumption by more than 17% over the past year.

The Tsogo Sun hotel group has introduced a range of water-savings measures.

John van Rooyen, Operations Director for the Cape Region at Tsogo Sun tells CapeTalk's John Maytham that year on year they have saved about 20% of their water consumption.

We introduced a monitoring system called station seven, which checks consumption levels of hotels by the hour. I must say all hotels have come to the party.

To increase awareness around water usage, Tsogo Sun has placed large posters and have taken to immediately communicate the situation with hotel visitors upon their arrival says Van Rooyen. In addition to this, Van Rooyen explains that bath plugs have been removed from the hotel bathrooms, meaning all patrons may only shower.

We also have introduced our linen changes to be less frequent, same with the towels.

We've begun reducing and removing linen serviettes from our restaurants and replaced that with paper serviettes.
