State capture allegations have left a huge mark against KPMG - Brown

Political analyst Karima Brown says KPMG is now feeling the heat after the announcement that the Institute of Directors has temporarily suspended all co-branded activities with the firm.

The firm suffered another blow amid allegations that it helped siphon taxpayer's money to pay for a lavish Gupta family wedding at Sun City, which led to Sygnia cutting ties with the firm.

READ: Why Sygnia fired KPMG

The board of the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa has released a statement saying it's suspending events with KPMG, meaning the audit firm's sponsorship of its golf day next month has been cancelled.

I think KPMG is actually going to feel the heat.

Karima Brown, political analyst

And of course we need the investigations and the arrests so that one can actually get to the full extent to which KPMG may or may not have assisted the Gupta's in laundering or siphoning money.

Karima Brown, political analyst

I think the other thing we must not forget is KPMG's role in the so called rogue unit at Sars, that has also left a huge mark against it's name.
