Sikonathi Mantshantsha wonders why Dudu Myeni seems untouchable

Deputy editor at Financial Mail, Sikonathi Mantshantsha says he wonders what does Dudu Myeni have on South African politicians that she has suddenly become untouchable.

Myeni who is the chairperson of the SAA board has been serving for the past eight years and her contract came to an end at the beginning of September 2017.

A decision was made last week to extend Myeni's contract when her tenure comes to an end.

According to Mantshantsha, SAA is bleeding money and is cash strapped. It owes suppliers about R6.8 billion and is allegedly paying its workers from loans. Yet Myeni's contract is being extended.

SAA needs to pay R6.8 billion to its lenders at the end of this month and SAA does not have a cent. It is paying salaries and suppliers out of loans. Yet the biggest cause of the problem - Dudu Myeni - stays on and probably even beyond the AGM that will be held in December.

Sikonathi Mantshantsha, Deputy editor at Financial Mail

SAA spends R8 million a day ...The government is going to have to print that money and take from you and I, and yet Dudu Myeni stays firmly in charge.
