Student leader commends extra beds, but more needs to be done

A building previously used as a nurses home was handed over to Wits university on Thursday in an effort to address the accommodation crisis at the institution.

Student activist leader, Fasiha Hassan says she is happy that long negotiations over the accommodation crisis have finally paid off.

She says they need to come up with a more permanent solution to these problems and the building should fit the standards that will allow students to do their assignment and study.

The bigger issue here is that it can't just be one hostel for one university, we need a more structured approach dealing with accommodation crisis across the country.
