Songbird, Brenda Mtambo brings the house down with #702Unplugged performance

Durban-born Brenda Mtambo always dreamed of being a singer. After completing her Bachelor of Commerce in Johannesburg, her break in music came when she joined the award-winning gospel group, Joyous Celebration.

Her album, "So Much More," addresses unhealthy relationships and is described as an anthem for women. The first single is "Ixesha Lami." Other tracks include "Busezweni," "Ungayeki" and "Themba Njalo." So Much More" is a departure from Mtambo's gospel roots, allowing her to express her own distinctive Afro soul voice.

The album was nominated against heavy weights in the category Best Urban Jazz and Best Female in the MMA 16 Awards.

Mtambo will also be performing at the 2017 Standard Bank Joy of Jazz.

The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre, for three days on four stages – Dinaledi, Conga, Mbira and Diphala and over 30 performances.

Tickets are on sale at Computicket at R700 for the Opening Night, R795 for a Day Pass and R1 350 for a two day pass.
