Your marriage matters

This week the world has celebrated International Marriage Week. Yes, marriage week, is a thing!

The popularity of marriage is declining and divorces are more common.

According to the most recent divorce statistics recently released by Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), there was an 8.1% decline in registered marriages from 2014 to 2015. Although 138 267 legal marriages where registered, Stats SA relays there was a 2.3% increase in the divorce rate.

According to the South African chapter of this commemoration, the vision of marriage week is to inspire and motivate couples to focus on the wellbeing of their marriage and thus establish a whole family and consequently a healthy society.

Marriage Week aims to inspire and remind people that their marriage matters.
