Kleinmond residents have started occupying pieces land and have set alight sections of vegetation in the area.
The situation in the coastal town of remains tense after violent protests erupted overnight, reports EWN's Kevin Brandt.
Roads were blocked with rubble and scattered glass on Tuesday morning, with multiple routes in and around the area affected.
Tyres were burnt in the street earlier, resulting in the temporary closure of the R44 to the public.
Police and traffic officials are guarding major roads leading into the community.
It's understood that the demonstrations stem from a dispute over a cleaning tender awarded to a contractor who doesn't live in the area, according to Brandt.
The residents in Kleinmond feel that the tender should have gone to a business owner in Kleinmond, not the one from Hermanus.— Kevin Brandt, EWN reporter
Kleinmond residents say they have communicated their grievances with the local municipality from last week.
