Taxi's and other public transport vehicles without permits to be impounded

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) says it's conducting operations in Sandton to impound unlicensed public transport vehicles following tensions between meter taxi drivers and Uber drivers.

Last week, two Uber cars were petrol bombed allegedly by meter taxi drivers. Angry Uber drivers retaliated, targeting stationary metered taxi cars.

This week, a caller described how she witnessed an Uber passenger being pulled out of the vehicle he was being transported in.
