Book gives voice to 'Khwezi', raises questions about ANC’s sexual abuse history

A new book on the life of Fezekile "Khwezi" Kuzwayo raises questions about the culture of sexual predation in South Africa and a history of sexual abuse within the ANC.

The book, titled 'Khwezi: the remarkable story of Fezekile Ntsukela Kuzwayo', was written by journalist and veteran broadcaster Redi Tlhabi.

Tlhabi worked with Kuzwayo on a book about her life, before she died in October last year.

Former intelligence minister Ronnie Kasrils says the book is a brave and honest attempt to give voice to Kuzwayo.

Political analyst and presenter Eusebius Mckaiser says the book exemplifies how law and justice can be vastly different.

Mckaiser and Kasrils reflect on how the book also raises questions about the sexual abuses against women during exile.

Redi has told the story of how law and justice come apart.

The whispers continue in this book. It tells us as many facts as it raises questions that are unanswered.

Zweli Mkhize is a just one sentence in this book. There is a story about rape and about sexual predation.

They discussed ANC culture and exile history, facts versus conspiracy within the party and slut-shaming during proceedings in the rape trial.
