Home Affairs DG Mkuseli Apleni to challenge precautionary suspension

Home Affairs Director General Mkuseli Apleni is set to challenge his precautionary suspension.

The sanction was confirmed on Monday in a one-line statement released by Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize Mkhize without giving further details.

Sandile July, the lawyer representing Apleni, details some of the reasons provided for the suspension.

There was a request for him to make representation as to why he should not be suspended and he responded to that.

The allegations relate to the failure to call meetings with the staff, where the minister is supposed to present, the other relates to negotiations with the trade unions, failure to resolve amicably and mitigate legal disputes.
