The ANC is dying and Prince Mashele says South Africans have three other choices

Author and political analyst Prince Mashele says the nation is currently going through a historic moment - the death of the ANC.

Mashele dissected the contents of his latest book, The Fall of the ANC, co-authored with Mzukisi Qobo.

He argues that the ANC has proven to be a national burden over the past eight years.

Mashele says South Africans who vote for the ANC, which he has described as destructive, are contributing to sinking society even deeper.

We are witnessing what we call the end of liberation politics, which expresses itself through the death of a liberation movement.

Prince Mashele, author and political analyst

There is rot from the ANC, from the branch to Luthuli House. All of that we interpret to mean the fall of the ANC.

Prince Mashele, author and political analyst

According to Mashele, South Africans have three alternative options (which he unpacks in greater detail):

  • the formation a new political party
  • voting for the DA
  • voting for the EFF

When a party dies in a democracy, there is not the end of life.
