Artist Esther Mahlangu: A dynamic South African ambassador in NY

This Heritage month, South African contemporary artist, Esther Mahlangu, has been honoured with a mural commemorating her bold and bright work in New York City.

Renaissance man, social commentator and photographer, Victor Dlamini shot an incredible image of Mahlangu for her Destiny Magazine.

Dlamini spent some time with Mahlangu in her hometown in Mpumalanga. He shares this experience with 702 host Azania Mosaka.

Dlamini describes Mahlangu as a true A-list celebrity. He says although Mahlangu is small in her physical stature her work is larger than life.

Dlamini goes on to say there is an unexplainable mystery to Mahlangu and how she puts together her masterpieces.

She doesn't sketch or pre-plan any any of her paintings. There isn't a sketch that she goes back and yet she is able to create these incredible patterns. She also never repeats any of her patterns.
