The African National Congress (ANC) national executive committee (NEC) has convened a special meeting on Friday morning.
Political analyst Karima Brown runs through some of the items on the agenda, including the roadmap to the December elective conference, and the Pietermaritzburg High court judgment forcing KZN province to have fresh elections.
Brown says a lot is resting on this meeting.

Brown says Makhosi Khoza's resignation from the ruling party suggests a renewal and an attempt to deal with what she has referred to as the rot in the ruling party.
What it also does is that increasingly people who feel like Makhosi Khoza have to begin to make tough choices.— Karima Brown, political analyst
