The MEC of Education in Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi gave instructions that teaching and learning should resume at Klipspruit West Secondary School following fresh reports of intimidation and tension.
He says the 14 staff members that have not reported for duty is an 'undesirable' situation especially as learners are writing their third term examinations.
An urgent meeting has been convened with all the parents and staff members on Tuesday afternoon to understand the reasons behind staff not reporting to work.
Either you have school or you don't have a school. You cant have something in between.— Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng Education MEC
We cant compromise the quality of examinations and education. I am quite excited the the matriculants are continuing to write their trial exams and those exams have not been disrupted but the biggest worry is tomorrow's strike.— Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng Education MEC
Lesufi declined to comment on the proposal to resolving the matter until he has met with the parents and staff of Klipspruit.
He also plans to meet with learners.
