Mr Gay SA a move towards bringing visibility to marginalized groups

Most of us have heard of Miss, Mr and with Mrs South Africa but how many of you have heard of Mr Gay World Southern Africa?

It’s organisers say their aim is to mentor and groom gay leaders that will advance gay human rights both locally and internationally.

Mr Gay World Southern Africa, Juan Pinnick will represent South Africa in the Mr Gay World competition. He says Mr. Gay World Southern Africa is in its seventh year running. Pinnick says the competition is a voice and a representation for the oppressed.

Pinnick says he prefers to refrain from calling the competition a pageant because it is more than that. He goes on to say it is about seeking an ambassador for the minority in the LGBTI community as well as someone that will drive change in society.
