LISTEN: Truck owner speaks of fatal N1 accident

CapeTalk's kieno Kammies spoke to the owner of a truck that killed two people on the N1 near Paarden Eiland last week.

There have been concerns that since the incident happened, the truck owners have not contacted the family of the deceased to offer support or at least explain what exactly happened on the day.

Derek Morillion, co-owner at Container Domestic Services says they didn't really know how to handle the matter because they were also dealing with the death of their driver in the incident.

He says they consulted their associates and were advised to let the family go through the grief and not overburden them.

There is no written manual of what you should do in this instant ...

Derek Morillion, co-owner at Container Domestic Services

I spoke to few other guys and everyone said it's obvious these people don't want to speak to you now, you are the villain in this incident so give it a bit of time.

Derek Morillion, co-owner at Container Domestic Services

We diarised to only speak to the family on Monday... we thought we should just let them breathe.
