Pay back the money we paid you, Eskom tells McKinsey and Trillian

Eskom says it has taken steps to recover the money from both McKinsey and Trillian Capital because interim investigations show that the payments were illegal.

About R1.5 billion was paid unlawfully to McKinsey and Trillian in 2016.

I do not know whether they are lying or telling the truth. They gifted these companies with our money - Trillian did not even do any job - or at least Eskom said we don't even know what job they did but we paid them R564 million. There's not even a contract with Trillian's name on it. They just handed the money over.

Now all of a sudden the are saying we want our money back.

The steps Eskom is taking were recommended by legal firm Bowmans more than two months ago.

It recommended that Eskom try and recover the money it paid to Trillian and McKinsey, says Mantshantsha.
