Bokke can become a world-beating squad - Ashwin Willemse

Former Springbok and current rugby commentator, Ashwin Willemse, says the national squad's narrow loss against the All-Blacks on Saturday signals some potential for the team to reach world status.

The New Zealand team beat the boys by just one point in a thrilling match that ended with a 24-25 score.

Willemse suggests that this is a turnaround after losing to New Zealand in a 57-0 loss in their last outing in Albany.

I think we have the core of what can potentially become a world-beating squad if we just allow and support them, let's support them with an understanding that if the pass had stuck we would have scored. The pass didn't stick so we lost.

Ashwin Willemse, former rugby player and analyst

Sometimes losing the game is not as important as how you played the game. I think the result is not indicative of the performance, the effort. We have to apply perspective, we cant look at sport and just say we lost a game. It takes away from the depth of what had really transpired.
