Charges dropped against #LionMama who stabbed her daughter's rapist

In September, an Eastern Cape woman made headlines when she was charged with stabbing a man to death, and injuring two others, after allegedly finding them raping her 27-year-old daughter.

The women's story quickly went viral on social media, prompting social media users to raise funds for her bail and legal fees for what they deemed a courageous act. Over R20 000 was raised and in addition, an attorney offered to represent the Eastern Cape mother at no cost.

On Monday, the National Prosecution (NPA) announced it had decided to withdraw all charges against the women, dubbed 'Lion Mama', meaning that she is free, and the state will not be pursuing criminal charges against her.

Our country is lawless, the police are understaffed and under-resourced. I commend that women for taking the law into her own hands. If something like that happened to my family member I would have done the same thing. I'm glad she's a free woman.

I own premises in Benoni, on a big plot where on the one side I have my house and the other side I have my office. The lady who helps me in the house makes lunch for my guys every day.

I came home the one day and I caught one of the guys that worked for me raping my seventeen-year-old daughter. I then drew my weapon and fatally shot him. You won't believe the hundreds and thousands of rands iI spent on psychologists for my daughter - and legal fees.

My daughter hasn't been the same since. I was treated like a criminal for protecting my daughter. It took me seven months with this case. Eventually, the state did drop the case.

Caller Chris says he cannot imagine a parent doing anything else other than protecting their child. As soon as he saw his daughter being raped he says he was filled with rage and adds that had he not pulled the trigger, he would have beaten the rapist to death.

My daughter was raped at a private school in Pretoria when she was 15/16 years. I saw my daughter change and only a decade later I found out she was raped. I simply want to find the person and put a bullet through his head but my daughter refuses to tell me who it is that raped her. I'm hoping one day she will finally tell me who he is so I can go to his family and tell them of the pain they have caused my family and me.
