'Mugabe's overnight cabinet reshuffle aimed at giving power to his wife Grace'

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has reshuffled his cabinet overnight, reassigned 10 ministers and made eight completely new deployments.

Shadow Ambassador for the MDC in SA, Austin Moyo says Mugabe's cabinet's reshuffle is aimed at diminishing the role of his deputy, Emmerson Mnangagwa, giving power to those supporting his wife Grace Mugabe.

Mnangagwa has been removed as defence minister but remains in his position as Mugabe's deputy. He is said to be conspiring to take over from Mugabe.

Moyo says Mugabe did not only remove Mnagagwa from the ministry but removed people who are aligned to him.

The cabinet reshuffle itself points to a position where Mugabe is now realigning Zanu PF to a situation where you do or die for next years elections.
