(This story is updated)

EWN reports the latest information on the #KZNstorms:

Five people have been confirmed dead so far. One was an eight-year-old child who was struck by lightning, while another was a 46-year-old man who drowned trying to cross a flooded river. A third person was crushed when a massive container fell on a car at the Durban port.

At least five hospitals have been affected by the storms.

Emergency teams have been responding to several incidents of people trapped in cars that have been submerged by floodwater.

Many roads remain closed in parts of eThekwini and motorists have been advised to stay off the roads.

There are no significant flight delays into and out of King Shaka International Airport at the moment.

Dipuo Tawana a South African Weather Service forecaster spoke to 702's Bongani Bingwa and said that they expect to see powerful winds along the coast but the storm is expected to weaken later on Tuesday afternoon.
