Northern Cape ANC has stablised since after the provincial conference - Saul

As has been the case at national level and several provinces, the African National Congress in the Northern Cape has also been facing challenges of unity.

There has been new leadership in the ANC in that province since May when Dr Zamani Saul became provincial Chairperson.

Reports however suggested that disgruntled members of the party threatened legal action to nullify this Northern Cape elective conference and to stop the province's regional conferences which are to take place next month.

Saul says however, it is all systems go and that he is not aware of a court challenge.

Things are going in the right direction and really we are finding and building a common purpose.

What we know is that we received a letter of demands from a few disgruntled members of the ANC in the province who actually instructed us not to continue with regional conferences, we responded to that letter that was frivolous and quite furious action from their side. The regional conferences are going ahead.

The provincial branch has been vocal in its support for Deputy President Cyrial Ramaphosa .

Saul says they want to ensure that there is a properly managed leadership succession in the ANC.

We are sitting with a capable Deputy President who can restore the integrity of the movement. There is no need for us to go around looking for somebody to become the president in December.
