Bringing children up to be kind and empathetic bucket fillers

On the #WeekendBreakfast with Phemelo Motene, Nikkie Bush explains the concept of bucket fillers and bucket dippers. This parenting technique could be seen as a guide to teach children compassion and kindness.

Everyone is born with an invisible bucket that needs to be filled with love and nurturing, healthy touch, singing, play, attention and safety. Children need to know that everyone else also has an invisible bucket that needs to be filled and also they can help fill those buckets too.

Nikkie Bush, Creative Parenting Expert

Parents need to be role models by filling their children's buckets and pointing out how they fill other peoples buckets. Bullies are referred to as bucket dippers because they make other people feel bad and sad by stealing good feelings from someones bucket.
