Minister Brown may have to account before Public Enterprises Committee

The Democratic Alliance intends asking Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane to investigate Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown for any role she played in the awarding of lucrative oil contracts by Eskom to her alleged lover and a close business associate.

Eskom has been accused of improperly awarding tenders worth over R1 million to Brown's alleged longtime lover and close associate.

The Sunday Times is reporting that Ingrid Tufvesson's eSmart Solutions scored lucrative oil tenders from Eskom despite having no expertise in the field.

It now emerges that the Minister's long time partner and her PA's mother have been the recipients of contracts....

Minister Brown actually has quite a long sordid past about having herself and her relatives and those close to her linked to wrong doing in government and I think this is a Minister that is going to have to account, specifically to that committee that starts tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the disciplinary hearing into suspended Eskom CEO Matshela Koko's alleged corrupt dealings at the power utility is set to get underway on Monday.
