Public Enterprise Minister Lynne Brown and her department have declined to comment on the latest spate of allegations surrounding the woman alleged to be her long-term romantic partner.
Eskom has been accused of improperly awarding tenders worth over R1 million to Brown's lover and close associate, Ingrid Tufvesson.
The Sunday Times is reporting that Tufvesson's eSmart Solutions scored lucrative oil tenders from Eskom despite having no expertise in the field.
Eyewitness News reporter Gia Nicolaides says Tufvesson has responded to the claims in a written statement.
She says she has noted these newspaper reports and that it is unfortunate that her ill health hampered her from resigning from this company called eSmart Solutions up until Friday.— Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter
Tufvesson is actually an academic and here is a contract involving supplying oil to Eskom, and I think that is where the confusion comes into it at this particular stage. We have not heard from Eskom yet about why this company was given this contract.— Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter
Meanwhile the disciplinary hearing into suspended Eskom CEO Matshela Koko's alleged corrupt dealings at the power utility is underway.
We don't know how long that process will take. Also, reports are coming through that he may have been part of selecting the people involved in this disciplinary process....— Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter
