This mugging victim decided not to just give in - and she's 72

72 year old Yvonne Viljoen was on her way to catch a lift with her friend on Boyes Drive, when 2 robbers tried to rob her of her handbag after first asking for her necklace.

She did not want to give it to them, and because it was hung securely around her, they took it from her by force.

Viljoen decided that the wasn’t going to be another victim, and decided to chase after them, gathering help from nearby residents.

A local security guard helped to apprehend them and Viljoen will be laying a charge against her attackers at the SAPS.

The St James resident said the two robbers were quite polite in their demeanor, and that they were not armed with weapons, which was part of the reason why she felt confident enough to fight back.
