This was revealed over the weekend when reports showed the apparent link that the Cabinet reshuffle occurred soon after President Jacob Zuma met with a Russian delegate, and was acting on Putin's orders.
EWN reporter Gia Nicolaides said she tried to get comment from the Presidency, but they directed all questions to the energy department. she says this in itself is difficult as the energy department is currently swapping administrations due to the reshuffle.
I have been told that these questions will be put to the newly appointed energy minister, so that he can answer - Was he chosen by the Russians to be put in this position to fast track this nuclear deal?— Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter
Nicolaides says that experts, analysts and EFF leader Julius Malema all alluded to this link when the Cabinet reshuffle was announced.
In the reports, it states that the Russian delegation traveled through Mozambique, came to South Africa and had high level meetings with Zuma and other members of government. Nicolaides says these meeting were quickly followed by the Cabinet reshuffle.
Apparently [the Russian delegation] also had a meeting with Mahlobo himself and then left the country and then all of a sudden this Cabinat reshuffle meeting happened.— Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter
