The festive season has officially kicked off and will see many locals and tourists travelling between cities.
The OR Tambo International Airport says between 1.8 million and 2 million passengers will come through their terminal doors in December alone.
General manager Bongiwe Pityi expects that 3.8 million passengers will go trough the international airport over December and January combined.
She says that airport management has already put in place increased security measures as a part of the festive peak-season plan.
Pityi explains that the airport has been running a festive campaign in conjunction with its 140 retail stores, titled '100 for 100'.
The campaign, which ends on Monday 30 October, could see a passenger walking away with a R100 000 airport shopping spree voucher.
