Presidency's response to Zuma's tax evasion scandal disputes nothing - Brown

Political analyst Karima Brown says a response by the Presidency to allegations of tax evasion by President Jacob Zuma, does not dispute any of the claims.

The President's Keepers, a new book by Jacque Pauw, details how the President failed to submit tax returns in the first five years of his Presidency, and how his son Edward Zuma was paid monthly by suspected tobacco smugglers for his political influence. His office has denied the claims and says the President's tax matters are in order.

What is interesting is that it is another set of people to whom President Jacob Zuma is beholden.

Karima Brown, political analyst

The response yesterday was that anything else is a smear campaign. That is a profound response in what it doesn't say. It doesn't dispute anything that is on the front page of the Sunday Times or any indication that it will sue the pants off Jacques Pauw.
