On Sunday, Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi announced that he will be stepping down from the party's leadership at its next elective conference.
He has been leading the party since its inception in 1975.
Current KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Secretary Velenkosini Hlabisa has been nominated to take over from Buthelezi.
Hlabisa says Buthelezi has set a good example in leadership.
