Biking group raises red flags over Chapman's Peak Drive road surface
The Pedal Power Association SA and other outdoor enthusiasts have expressed concern over the conditions of the Chapman's Peak Drive road surface.
The association's Robert Vogel says the road surface is uncomfortable to cycle over and could be very slippery during wet weather conditions.
He adds that the surface could also cause severe injury for runners and cyclists in its current state.
The surface is literally rubber bitumen that's been laid down and large stones that have been left to settle.Robert Vogel, CEO of Pedal Power Association SA
I'm here on my bike. I can actually pick up the stones at the moment. The contractors weren't too sure if this will harden over time.Robert Vogel, CEO of Pedal Power Association SA
