The days of hours spent regretting sending certain messages, videos or gifs are now over! WhatsApp will now let you delete messages sent accidentally in a chat so you can act like it never happened.
With the new feature, you can delete messages sent to one person or an entire group, but the trick is you only have seven minutes to delete them after being sent.
How does the new feature work?
1. Open WhatsApp and go to the chat containing the message you wish to delete.
2. Tap and hold the message then choose Delete from the menu. Optionally, select more messages to delete multiple messages at once.
3. Tap Delete or Delete For Everyone. Remember your contact will still be able to see the messages if you choose the delete for me option, so choose delete for everyone.
WhatsApp has warned that in order for messages to be successfully deleted for everyone, both you and your recipient must be using the latest version of WhatsApp for Android, iPhone or Windows Phone.
Also important to note that recipients may see your message before it's deleted or if deletion was not successful.
You can learn more about the feature via WhatsApp’s FAQ section.
