Celibacy liberated me - Amanda Ndiki

Amanda Ndiki has been celibate for 6 years.

Speaking to Sara-Jayne King, Ndiki says she didn't choose to be celibate because no one wanted her. In fact, she was once married.

After her husband died, she got involved in numerous failed relationships and discovered she was losing herself in the process.

She says the first two years were challenging to a point she thought she was going crazy. But because she made a commitment to herself to stay celibate she stood her ground and persevered.

Most of us just use sex just to get over the pain and the bad experiences of life.

Amanda Ndiki, Celibate

Relationships have a tendency of draining us and in the process losing a little bit of your self-worth because another person is broken and wants to drag you to his level of brokenness.

Amanda Ndiki, Celibate

I always knew I was destined for greatness...

Amanda Ndiki, Celibate

Ndiki says when we are broken we tend to attract other broken people saying "when you are a mess, you attract a mess".

She found herself in that very state and took a break to find herself again.

I was broken and the only thing I could this I could identify with was another broken person.

Amanda Ndiki, Celibate

I always tell people that celibacy liberates you. It liberates your mind, your body and your soul.
