The City of Cape Town has warned residents in the far South area that water from the St James Walkway is unacceptable quality for oral consumption.
The City's Xanthea Limberg says the water source near Kalk Bay is not suitable for drinking purposes without further treatment.
She says the City conducts continuous monitoring of all springs across the Cape.
According to Limberg, the St James water source is a combination of storm water and water from different mountain springs.
The City does not guarantee that there is adequate testing for human consumption to take place.— Xanthea Limberg, Mayco Member for Informal Settlements, Water and Waste Services and Energy
She advises residents to be careful of how they make use of non-potable water.
