New book looks at Pallo Jordan's thoughts and writings throughout the years

ANC veteran Pallo Jordan latest book shares a collection of his thoughts and writings throughout the years.

Titled Letters to my comrades – Interventions and Excursions, the book touches on a wide range of issues such as politics, history, culture, economics, international relations, traditional African leadership and its relevance in a modern democracy.

The book is a compilation of works that already exists, and is packaged in a way that gives readers great insights into the ANC veteran's mind.

The book was complied by South African poet and political activist, Keorapetse Kgositsile, and Mothobi Mutloatse. Jordan says he didn't choose what got published, but he agreed to what was selected.

I submitted two CD roms which had articles up to, originally 2014 and then between 2014 and this year a lot of later articles were included as well. But I didn't have a word in what they chose to publish.

For Jordan, having Kgositsile and Mutloatse choose the selection of articles that would make it in the book was beneficial.

It's always better when someone else does that for you, because you may think that a p[articular piece that you wrote is wonderful, and someone else may find a want of decision in it. So a second opinion is always valuable.

Pallo Jordan, ANC veteran

The book has a total of 170 items that includes an eclectic mix of discussion papers, newspaper columns, letters to editors, speeches and lectures all penned by Jordan.
