What could've caused WhatsApp global outage?

WhatsApp chat service crashed worldwide on Friday morning. Billions of App users couldn't communicate with each other for about an hour.

Tech guru Aki Anastasiou says reports from WhatsApp is that there was a crash from one of their servers which caused a ripple effect and an outage for 60 minutes.

We don't know what the problem was exactly. With all the different time zones in countries there werent as many WhatsApp users at the time but we saw these outages around Europe, Indonesia, Pakistan - we still dont know where the server problem was.

The reliance that people have on WhatsApp was so evident this morning because across the social media networks we saw people complaining.

Anastasiou says what might have went wrong because WhatsApp is introducing new additions to the service like WhatsApp business and the delete option that still needs to be rolled out to billions of users.
