Tony Yengeni's house burns down

City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue services responded to a fire in the early hours of Monday morning at anti-Apartheid activist and ANC veteran Tony Yengeni's house.

According to spokesperson for Fire and Rescue services, Theo Layne, the fire has been extinguished but the house is severely damaged.

He says they responded to the call at about 4:30 am. The only person in the house at the time was Yengeni's mother who was removed from the house by a family member.

Most of the structure has been severely damaged as well as all of the contents.
