Ronnie Kasrils to take legal action against Arthur Fraser for fraud

Investigative journalist and author of a controversial book The President's Keepers, Jacques Pauw says that State Security Agency Director General, Arthur Fraser was complicit in the looting of hundreds of millions of rand from a slush fund.

Pauw also revealed how Fraser forged former intelligence minister Ronnie Kasrils signature for what is know as the PAN (Principle Agent Network) project.

Speaking to 702's Karima Brown, Kasrils says he will be taking legal action against Fraser.

I have already spoken to my attorneys. They are busy reading the book and we will have discussions on this and I will consider the options available to me.

I dearly hope that I can take this up because it is clear from the brilliant job done by Jacques Pauw that my name and signature were stolen for criminal purposes and that is such an invasion of my privacy and identity.

Kasrils says he was alerted to the documents mentioned in Pauw's book in 2010, while in retirement. He says he was approached by an internal investigative unit wanting to know whether the signature on the documents is indeed his.

I looked at the signature and it appears to be mine. One, of course, is mindful of technology, lifting signatures...
