It is an important two weeks for South African rugby! Next Wednesday, 15 November, World Rugby will vote for the country to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
This Saturday, the Springboks play a test against Ireland, who is also a bidding to host the World Cup.
The World Rugby Council has already said South Africa is its preferred World Cup host, but the South African Rugby Union (Saru) would like your support ahead of this important week.
Saru is encouraging you to show your support for its World Cup bid by participating in the Green Day initiative on Friday.
General Manager for Corporate Affairs at Saru, Andy Colquhoun explains.
We want to show the world that South Africa as a nation is behind the idea that we are going to host a tournament again, recapture some of the 2010 spirit. We are asking all South Africans to wear green whether a Springbok jersey that they have or something green. And wear something green next Wednesday as well.— Andy Colquhoun,General Manager for Corporate Affairs at Saru
Lead SA and Primedia Broadcasting are supporting SA Rugby in the lead-up to next Wednesday’s adjudication to determine whether or not SA gets to host #SouthAfrica2023.
