On Monday night, President Zuma sat down for an hour long interview on ANN7.

President Jacob Zuma has denied the existence of state capture, describing it as a fake political tool.

On Monday night, President Zuma sat down for an hour long interview on ANN7.

In the interview Zuma said: " One of the things they will have to clarify, what is a state capture? They can't just make it sound so important and so big....and I am sure the judicial commission of inquiry, it is one of the issues they will have to clarify. It is all fake political, just painting a particular family and few individuals."

The President also mentioned some of what he would like to be remembered for, including the introduction of more state departments.

Eyewitness News reporter Clement Manyathela spoke to Stephen Grootes to give a run through more of what was mentioned in the interview.

He didn't mention a lot of things, he mentioned the creation of the higher education ministry, separating it from basic education and the creation of the monitoring department.

Denying that he is corrupt, talking about state capture and really going into detail about how he denies this state capture.

Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter

We have consistently asked the secretary-general and some members of the top six, if the President is on the same page as them when he talks about state capture. Some in the top six are taking it seriously but according to the President it is something that must still be defined.

Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter

He also made it clear that those that have been using this term state capture to attack him politically are going to regret it because he said when that commission of inquiry is established, it is going to go after everyone.
