CEO and founder at Preeva Foundation, Max Heberstein, 22, has come up with a way to provide tutoring to high school and university students at reasonable prices.
Heberstein says the idea came after realising how important tutoring is but it's not affordable to many.
Tutoring has up until now been reserved for those who have the money to afford the exorbitantly high fees.— Max Heberstein, CEO and founder at Preeva Foundation
We are trying to put a model and system in place whereby the service is affordable so that the public and other foundations can sponsor the students who are disadvantaged to receive the same service.— Max Heberstein, CEO and founder at Preeva Foundation
The tutoring service is offered at R65 an hour per student.
Heberstein says they have managed to bring down the costs by grouping the students per tutor. This means one tutor could have a group to a maximum of three students.
Having a maximum of three people is still effective. Some students like to work together sometimes and it creates a bit of competitiveness.— Max Heberstein, CEO and founder at Preeva Foundation
