Mxolisi Nxasana says he was forced from his position at NPA

Former National Director of Public Prosecutions, Mxolisi Nxasana, told the North Gauteng High Court earlier today that he was forced from his position. This is in connection with the legal claims that Prosecutions boss Shaun Abrahams faces on his apparent unlawfully appointment.

Nxasana says that the president is lying when he says Nxasana left the NPA of his own will. He said he was forced out. He has also agreed to give up his R17-million golden handshake and return to his post.

Executive Director at Freedom Under Law (FUL) , Nicole Fritz says that it disappointing that Nxasana affidavit which outlines his claims was submitted to court late. She adds the omission of this affidavit is not fatal to their case.

This is because FUL only got partial disclosure of correspondence relating to Nxasana's R17-million settlement. Fritz says when this was discovered they made a special petition for further disclosure.

We go those documents. Those documents, we believe, very clearly - even without the affidavit of Mxolisi Nxasana - make clear that president's version cannot be believed that Mr Nxasana was forced out of his position and was certainly induced to do so by the payment of R17 million.
