Dentlinger says that Ebrahim has questioned why after almost four decades in public service he would now do at this late stage of the game do something untoward.
Allegations against himself, the mayor and city manager of the City of Cape Town by an office manager, of corruption and tender manipulation, have been made.
During a rare secret City Council meeting on Tuesday, dealt with an affidavit deposed by the mayor's top aide about these officials turning a blind eye to corruption in the transport sector - involving MiCiti buses, fares going missing, and questioning the way tenders for the Foreshore Freeway Project have been done.
The mayor has made it clear this is just an attack on her integrity and she has fought corruption for years.
Ebrahim has until next week to give reasons why he should not be suspended.
