High-performance Volvo Ocean racers on display in the Mother City

The Volvo Ocean Race made its stopover in Cape Town on Friday welcomed by the City of Cape Town’s Cllr Eddie Andrews.

Director of Sailing at WorldSport Hylton Hale says there are about 17 yachts in Cape Town at the moment and they are thrilled to be hosting them.

He says members of the public are encouraged to come to the V&A Waterfront to meet the teams and see their state of the art boats.

The boats have been taken out of the water to be serviced before they head to Australia.

Hylton Hale, Director of Sailing at WorldSport

They are amazing machines, they are lovely to look at and we encourage everyone to come and see them.

The fleet is in Cape Town for two weeks. They will be doing some activation and exhibitions at the Waterfront to show the public how they survive in the ocean.

Hale says a 3D presentation allows visitors to get an experience of how these ocean racers live in the ocean.
