What's Gauteng health's recovery plan after Life Esidimeni?

Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says a task team appointed to formulate a recovery plan for the Gauteng Health Department will deal with issues of human resources, procurement and financial management among other issues.

Provincial health MEC Gwen Ramokgopa will head the intervention team.

The provincial department has been hit by a number of problems, including the Life Esidimeni tragedy.

Motsoaledi says they have identified structural issues and are reviewing policy.

If you look at the health ombuds report about Life Esidimeni he clearly said that we have to review the national Health Act and also review the mental health act because some of these problems happen because of the manner in which this structure has been set.

Aaron Motsoaledi, health minister

Coming to the issue of the office having been taken under administration, yes, its a problem and it is about financial management.
