Cape Town's TriggerFish Animation Studios scoops UK Bafta award

Cape Town-based Triggerfish Animation Studios scooped a prize at the British Academy Film Awards (Bafta) in the animation category. Triggerfish produces a series of animated films based on Roald Dahl's "Revolting Rhymes".

The productions are commissioned by BBC One and Magic Light Pictures.

Triggerfish produced animation for Sesame Workshop, a South African version of Sesame Street, Takalani Sesame.

CEO at Triggerfish, Stuart Forrest spoke to CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies about the award and teaching animation in schools in the future.

In South Africa we tend to look at maths and science as the subjects where the intellectual value is, we don't look at arts as having intellectual value.

Stuart Forrest, CEO at Triggerfish

We are completely missing the value that's sitting in the heads of our people that we could actually sell around the world and have an impact on the world in that way

Stuart Forrest, CEO at Triggerfish
