Free State ANC set to nominate preferred presidential candidate

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State is preparing to hold it's provincial general council (PGC) to nominate its preferred presidential candidate on Tuesday.

The presidential race is gaining momentum with only week's ahead of the December elective conference.

So far the Northern Cape and Western Cape have both nominated Cyril Ramaphosa.

Eyewitness News reporter Clement Manyathela says the Free State is expected to nominate rival Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.

They are expected to nominate Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma because we know that the Free State has already indicated it's support for Dlamini-Zuma.

Manyathela says analysts have raised some concern if Dlamini-Zuma takes over the reigns.

One of the things on the economic front is whoever wins, is going to have to deal with this sluggish economy, and what I remember NDZ to have said previously is that the only thing that will help is if there is this role out of radical economic transformation.
